Linking Guidelines
Learn how to correctly use your partner ID to ensure you receive credit for referrals.
Updated May 15th, 2025
Overview
To receive credit for referrals, partners must include their partner ID in the URL using the via query parameter. When a user clicks your link, this parameter is consumed and stored in a tracking cookie for attribution. This ensures you receive commission for any eligible first-time purchases made by that customer.
How to link to pages
Always append ?via=partnerid to any URL you share. If the URL already contains query parameters, append your partner ID using &via=partnerid instead.
Examples
| Page | URL Format |
|---|---|
| Home Page | https://wrapmarket.com/?via=partnerid |
| Item Listing | https://wrapmarket.com/item/example-listing-W00000000?via=partnerid |
| Browse Page | https://wrapmarket.com/web-templates?via=partnerid |
| Browse Page | https://wrapmarket.com/web-templates?sort=recent&via=partnerid |
Be careful not to include a trailing slash (/) at the end of URLs unless the original URL includes it. Avoid adding an extra trailing slash to URLs, as this can trigger an unnecessary redirect and result in a duplicate URL. Always use the canonical version of the URL when appending your tracking parameter.
Redirect behavior and tracking
Some pages on Wrapmarket, such as the home page, item listings, and browse pages, automatically redirect to their canonical URL using a permanent (301) redirect. This is done to ensure clean and consistent URLs.
However, your tracking is safe: the via parameter is consumed before any redirects occur. You will still receive credit for the referral even if the URL redirects immediately after the parameter is processed.
Best practices
- Always verify that your link works by visiting it and ensuring it leads to the correct page.
- To accurately test your referral links, use a private or incognito browser window. This ensures you're seeing the behavior a new visitor would experience, unaffected by cookies, signin state, or prior visits.
- Do not modify or attempt to obscure your partner ID in URLs.
- Never use URL shorteners or redirect chains that could strip the
viaparameter. - When sharing links publicly (such as on your blog or social media), always include the full URL with your partner ID.
What pages can I link to?
Most pages on Wrapmarket support partner tracking. You can link to:
- Home page
- Item listings
- Browse and category pages
- Creator shops
Do not link directly to signin, signup, checkout pages, or any pages that require a user to be signed in to an account. Partner tracking is not guaranteed on those pages and may not result in proper attribution.
